How We Build

AI accelerates the process. Engineering makes it reliable.

Nine areas of practice, from the first conversation to long-term maintenance, and what you can expect from each.

The path at a glance

What we learn while running the system feeds the next round of discovery.

The nine areas in detail

01

Discovery

Good software starts with a clear question. We spend the first days understanding the problem, not drafting a solution.

  • Interviews with the people who will use and run the system
  • A map of the current process, its pain points and its constraints
  • Agreement on what success looks like and how it will be checked
  • A short list of the biggest risks and unknowns

What you get: A shared written scope, priorities and the open questions that still need answers.

02

Architecture

The structure of a system decides how easy it is to change. We choose the simplest structure that fits the problem.

  • A domain model and data design that match how the business talks
  • Clear boundaries between parts, with interfaces written down
  • Technology chosen for the team that will maintain it
  • Decision records that explain why, not only what

What you get: An architecture overview, a data model and the key decisions with their reasons.

03

AI-assisted engineering

We use AI tools to speed up routine work. Engineers stay responsible for every decision and every line that ships.

  • AI helps with drafts, boilerplate, test ideas and documentation
  • Everything it produces is read, understood and reviewed like any other code
  • Architecture, security and trade-offs are decided by engineers, not generated
  • Sensitive data and credentials are kept out of external tools

What you get: Faster routine work, with the same review and testing standard as hand-written code.

04

Development

Work is delivered in small increments that can be seen, tried and corrected while changes are still cheap.

  • Short iterations ending in something usable
  • Version control, small changes and a clear history
  • Working builds available for review throughout
  • Regular conversation about scope, progress and risks

What you get: Working software at every milestone, not a surprise at the end.

05

Code quality

Code is read far more often than it is written. We keep it understandable so it can be changed safely later.

  • Peer review on every change
  • Consistent structure, naming and formatting enforced by tools
  • Static analysis and type checking in the pipeline
  • Documentation where the code cannot explain itself

What you get: A codebase your own team, or another one, can pick up and extend.

06

Testing

Tests are how we know a change did not break something else, and how you can trust each release.

  • Automated tests for the business rules that matter most
  • Integration checks across the parts and the services they call
  • Manual exploratory testing on real devices and real data shapes
  • Acceptance criteria agreed up front and checked at the end

What you get: A test suite that runs on every change and a clear record of what was verified.

07

Security

Security is built in from the first design decision, not added in the last week.

  • Authentication and access control designed with the data model
  • Input validation, safe handling of secrets and least-privilege access
  • Dependencies kept current and checked for known problems
  • Logging that helps investigate incidents without exposing personal data

What you get: A system that protects its data by design, with the measures documented.

08

Deployment

Releasing should be routine. Automated pipelines make every deployment the same, small and reversible.

  • Separate staging and production environments
  • Automated build, test and release steps
  • Rollback plans prepared before a release, not during it
  • Monitoring switched on from day one

What you get: A repeatable release process and environments you can recreate.

09

Maintenance

Software keeps changing after launch. We plan for that so improvements stay safe and affordable.

  • Monitoring and alerting that catch problems early
  • Regular dependency and security updates
  • A backlog of improvements ranked by value
  • Support arrangements that match how critical the system is

What you get: A product that keeps improving without growing harder to change.

AI-assisted engineering

Faster routine work. The same standard of care.

We do not claim that AI makes software better by itself. It helps with routine work, and our engineers remain responsible for what ships.

Where AI helps

  • Drafts of routine code and tests
  • Boilerplate and repetitive transformations
  • First versions of documentation
  • Exploring options and explaining unfamiliar code

What engineers own

  • Architecture and the trade-offs behind it
  • Security-sensitive logic and handling of secrets
  • Reviewing, understanding and testing every change
  • The decision to release, and responsibility afterwards
